Communication is very essential part of our life may be between Human beings or between Human Beings and Machine (HMI). Similarly communication is also important between Machines. This communication means data transfer from one machine to other. There are various ways and means of doing it, it can be hardwired, Wi-Fi, GPRS, GSM etc.
Similarly in today’s Avionics world this communication between Machines or LRU’s plays a crucial role. This means of communication are via MIL 1553, ARINC 429 or ARINC 717
ARINC is Mark33 Digital Information Transfer System (DITS),” also known as Aeronautical Radio INC. (ARINC) is the technical standard for the predominant avionics data bus used on most higher-end commercial and transport aircraft.It defines the physical and electrical interfaces of a two-wire data bus and a data protocol to support an aircraft’s avionics local area network.
For the Commercial Airlines these means of communication are via ARINC 429 or ARINC 717
ARINC 429 is the most widely used data bus standard for aviation. Electrical and data format characteristics are defined for a two-wire serial bus with one transmitter and up to 20 receivers. The bus is capable of operating at a speed of 100 kbit/s.
